Design, Execution, Safety & Quality

The project duration was approximately 6 weeks. The project was held up slightly due to the presence of unknown underground services where there was no as-built or survey information available but apart from this, the project went smoothly.

As there are different risks present in every construction project, it was highlighted that working at heights, cranage and live services were the high risks for this project. As a result of this analysis much of the assembly work was performed on the ground and then lifted into place when ready. This process effectively minimised working at heights requirements. For roof sheet installation, scaffolding towers were erected at either end and a static line was installed. This ensured that any personnel working on the roof had sufficient fall protection. During any crane lift, a designated area was delineated, with only riggers, spotters and EWP operator & spotter allowed access. Another potential high risk was that there were services present, both known & unknown during all stages of construction. This was managed successfully by our isolation and lockout management system.

Linkbuild Construction team and safety personnel worked closely together, along with the client, to identify and remove potential hazards from the workplace whilst maintaining efficiencies within the workplace. JHA’s were reviewed on a daily basis by site management and client representatives, with take 5’s numbers been recorded each day.

The project was executed using Linkbuild Construction’s client approved Quality Management plan. This QA plan outlined the necessary documents, Field inspection Checklists (FIC’s) and Inspection Test Plans (ITP’s), were to be signed off by the client at individual steps. A Material Data Register (MDR) containing all project information inclusive of FIC’s, ITP’s, material registers, material conformity certs, material test results, redline mark ups, warranties, as built drawings and user manuals was compiled as the job progressed. This was presented to the client at project completion.
